This is meant to follow up from my last post regarding using clipping masks.
Utilizing the same method when going over with color (using layer modes more than likely) lets you run wild with texture brushes and all sorts of painting techniques to create different effects, without much of a worry about going over edges and having to take time to clean up.
Again, I started with a solid black silhouette after doing some sketches on my canvas to get an idea as to how I wanted the tentacles to flow. The range of lights and darks are done first on a grayscale with an adjustment on my brushes opacity settings.
Anyways, this was a fun and quick little painting to pump out - approx. 35-40 min.
